It was a definite revenge moment for Mercado who was beaten in their last bout in Kenya in September 2018.

It was the second title defense for the mother of two who had already knocked out Catherine Phiri of Zambia in 2017.

34-year old Iron fist will have a 90-day window for a rematch as stipulated in a contract signed before the Mexican bout.

The Sunday loss leaves Zarika with 13 losses, 32 wins and two draws against Mercado who has two losses and 13 wins.
