Fire razes down a section of Gikomba market

Gikomba market has on Wednesday morning been razed down by fire barely two months when traders lost properties worth millions.

The Wednesday morning fire is said to have affected a section of the market where clothing and shoe businesses are sold.

Goods worth hundreds of thousands are said to have been destroyed in the Gikomba market inferno.

Last year a fire broke out at the same Gikomba market claiming 15 lives and destroying properties worth millions.

The incident prompted Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to form a committee to inquire on the incident but no findings were reported to the public as at today.

Traders have on numerous occasion called on the government to facilitate during such incidents with the fire department being blamed for their laxity.
