First Lady Margaret Kenyatta scoops EY award

First lady Margaret Kenyatta has been awarded the 2018 EY Eastern Africa Life Time Achievement Award due to her efforts to promote the well-being and health of all Kenyans.

The First Lady was awarded due to her relentless efforts in making sure that there is elimination of Mother Child transmission of HIV through the Beyond Zero initiative.

The recognition was made during a gala dinner organized by EY group at a Nairobi hotel. First Lady Margaret Kenyatta pleased with the recognition saying” I am deeply honoured to have received the 2018 EY Eastern Africa Life Time Achievement award. I remain committed to making a contribution to the promotion of the well-being and health of all Kenyans, as we work towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

” Private sectors were recognized by the First Lady for their unique role in making sure millions of Kenyans get access to quality and affordable health care.

In Her speech she said “ I recognize the unique role that the private sector plays, alongside millions of Kenyans. Together we have impacted many vulnerable and marginalized communities with access to quality and affordable health care. My profound gratitude for being part of our journey.”

In 2014 the First Lady scooped the UN person of the year and in 2017 she won the Fellow of Honoris Cusa from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG) in South Africa.

What is EY award about?

EY award recognizes successful entrepreneurs who their turnover exceeds 50 million US Dollars annually.

The awards are divided in five categories with the emerging category award honoring entrepreneurs whose business annual turnover exceeds 5 million US Dollars.

The winning woman category recognizes women whose business turnover exceeds 2.5 million US Dollars.

The EY Entrepreneur of the Year is held in 66 countries between the month of November and December with the ultimate annual gala being held in Monte Carlo each year in the month of June.

In East Africa, the EY award include countries such as Kenya,Uganda,Tanzania and Rwanda.
