Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i has confirmed the arrest of five people connected to the chaos witnessed on Saturday in Busia during DP William Ruto’s tour of the region.
The Interior CS confirmed that as a government they will have zero tolerance for hooligans and politicians using people to cause chaos during political meetings.
He promised the arrest of all those involved in the incident as well as call on Kenyans to move freely within the country.

“We have already arrested Five individuals in relation to the incident in Busia. We in the security sector have adopted a zero tolerance approach to those who would threaten our democratic values, starting with the perpetrators and organizers who disrupted H.E the DP Williams Ruto tour in Busia.
Political leaders and aspirants have right to move freely within our borders and ours is to be neutral and act fairly to ensure an environment for a vibrant democratic debate.” Said CS Matiang’i
The arrests follows a statement by the Deputy President who blamed his political opponents for hiring young Kenyans to cause chaos. Police were forced to lobby teargas in the air to disperse the large crowd in Busia town.
