Five crewmembers are reported missing following a US Navy helicopter crash off the coast of San Diego.
The sailors are reported to have been onboard the helicopter that was conducting routine flight operations before crashing on August 31st.
In accordance to the US Navy regulations, the names of the five will be withheld until when their families have been notified of the same.

“The US Navy has declared the five missing crewmembers of an MH-60S helicopter crash, deceased. Search and rescue efforts have shifted to recovery operations.
As a matter of respect for the families and in accordance with Navy policy, the identities of the Sailors will be withheld until 24 hours after their next of kin have been notified.” Said US Navy.
Search and rescue efforts are still underway with a total of 5 helicopters and 34 flights of service deployed to assist locate and retrieve their bodies.
“he transition from search and rescue efforts to recovery operations comes after more than 72 hours of coordinated rescue efforts encompassing 34 search and rescue flights, over 170 hours of flight time, with 5 search helicopters and constant surface vessel search.” Said US Navy
