Five reported dead as a Saloon car plunges into a river

Five people are reported to have died when a saloon car plunged into a river along Ekero-Buyanga road, Busia County.

The five were among ten others who were travelling for the festive season.Five others sustained injuries.

Two of the dead are said to have been a husband and wife with the injured being children who were all bundled inside the saloon car.

Traffic police who arrived at the scene urged motorist to comply with traffic rules so as to ensure safety.

One of the motorists was a form three students with the other one being a form four leaver.

Passengers were left stranded on Monday night as NTSA impounded several Mombasa bound buses.

The buses are reported to have been banned from travelling at night but they still operated despite the ban.

One of the buses was Chania Genesis, a bus company that was involved in an accident at Voi County.
