A form three student has been arrested after allegedly faking his own kidnapping and extort money from his parents.
The police were informed of the boy’s kidnapping from a renowned school in Meru and begun the process of tracing him following several calls to family and relatives demanding ransom in exchange of his freedom.
“Following the alleged kidnapping of a form three student from a renowned school in Meru, detectives embarked on an operation to trace the student’s whereabouts. Calls had been made to the boy’s distraught parents & relatives requesting for a ransom, to secure his freedom.” Said DCI

Investigation led the police to Nkubu Town where the student was about his business extorting his poor family and relatives.
“However, after days of our officers’ search for him, we discovered that the student had faked his kidnapping and was whiling his time away unperturbed at Nkubu town, extorting money from his poor parents and relatives.” Said DCI
School going students have been warned against engaging in such behaviours and that those found will face the full force of the law.
“DCI would like to caution school going students to restrain themselves from engaging in criminal activities and instead focus on their education. Any form of Criminal activity shall be met with the full force of the law, regardless of one’s status in the society.” Said DCI
