Former 400m world champion Nicholas Bett has passed away

Former 400m world champion Nicholas Bett has passed away on Wednesday along the Eldoret-Kapsabet road.

Bett,26, passed away after the car he was in hit a bump before it rolled into a ditch just a day after returning from Nigeria where he participated in the Championship.

During the time of his death, Bett was alone as confirmed by Nandi police Commander Patrick Wambani.

The former world champion will be remembered for being the first Kenyan to win a gold medal in Beijing during the 2015 IAAF World Championships.

Nicholas Bett won the race at a record time of 47:79 beating Russian Dennis Kudryavsten who came second.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
