Former AG Edward Ouko hands over to Nancy Gathungu

Former Auditor General Edward Ouko has on Thursday handed over to the new Auditor General Nancy Gathungu.

During the ceremony, the new auditor General Nancy Gathungu promised to build the legacy left by his predecessor and ensure that the services rendered meet the expectation of the people.

She promised to also safeguard the interest of stakeholders and act according to the changing environment.

“I will build on your legacy and ensure we continue developing our audit services to meet the needs of the people, the expectations of the stakeholders, and respond appropriately to the constantly changing environment and emerging risks” Said Nancy.

On his part, Ouko expressed how confident he was at the new AG and she promised to go higher from where he left.

“I am confident that you will tailor your own shoes that will be bigger than Oukos” Said the former AG.

The handover ceremony comes a week after the new Auditor General was sworn in Chief Justice David Maraga.

She called on the support of staff at her new office to ensure that Kenyans can account for their money.

Nancy continued by promising to also clear the backlog left in every entity including a proper audit of donor income meant for projects.
