Athletics legend Kpchoge Keino and former sports CS Hassan Wario have been arrested on Thursday morning.

The duo have surrendered to the DCi offices following graft allegations affecting the ministry.

Mr. Wario who is now the ambassador of Kenya to Austria is accused of misuse of Ksh 55 million that was set aside for Rio Olympics. During the Olympics period, Ksh 15 million is said to have been used for allowances and Ksh 22 million used to purchase air tickets that are said to have never been used.

Other than misappropriation of cash, there were complaints from the athletes not receiving their training kits only to found in the houses of some of the officials.

Kenyans reacted angrily to the allegations forcing an immediate look into the issue.

Even though the Kenyan team performed well in the Olympics, the government was looking into the matter.

The Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office cracked the whip on the top officials and they believe they have enough evidence to prosecute them.
