Former Gem Member of Parliament (MP) Jakoyo Midiwo has passed away as confirmed by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The ODM party leader has described the former lawmaker as an outstanding debater who related well with others from different political parties.

“First elected MP in 2002, Jakoyo Midiwo served the people of Gem with passion for 3 terms. An astute debater, a man of his word and honor, Jakoyo had a rare ability to work across the aisle and got along with members from across the political divide. I will dearly miss him.” Said Raila Odinga
The 55-year-old former legislator died at Nairobi Hospital where he was receiving treatment for sometime. The news also comes barely a week after the late Midiwo lost her sister who is set to be laid to rest this Saturday.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) described the late Midiwo as the founder of the party who was never shy to speak the truth.
“Sad day for our party. We have just lost a gallant son of the soil, a founder member of the Change Movement & a three time Member of Parliament for Gem Hon. Jakoyo Midiwo. He was a defender of the party & never shied away from speaking the truth. To the family, we say POLE SANA.”” Said ODM
