A Kenya Defense Force (KDF) soldier has shot dead a former police officer in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The former police turned into a robber was in the company two others when the KDF soldier caught them stealing and vandalizing road signs before opening fire.
According to a publication by the Standard, one of the three suspects managed to escape the scene using a motorbike as one other suspect was arrested after the ordeal.

It is reported that the three were caught red handed committing the offense and were ordered to surrendered after gun shots were fired in the air to scare them off.
They however remained reluctant forcing the soldier to shoot one of them in his defense and arresting the second suspect in the process.
Gilgil OCPD John Ondit confirmed the news saying the former police officer was fired following increased cases of indiscipline before turning into crime.
Cases of vandalism in the area are reported to be on the rise due to presence of scrape metal dealers promoting the trade as confirmed by the police boss.
