According to court documents, the former CS is accused of taking advantage of his position and included three more people to accompany team Kenya during the planned games.
The three who include Monica Sairo, Richard Abura and Edan Adow were allocated allowances and allowed to travel contrary to the recommended list of people allowed to travel.
Magistrate Elizabeth Juma noted that the Ministry was working on a deficit budget at the time and that the three strained the finances further. As a matter of fact, some officials were left behind to cover the cost.
Also charged alongside the CS was former Sports PS Richard Ekai, Patrick Kimathi Nkabu, Haron Komen and former director of administration at the Ministry of Sports, Francis Kinyili.
All of them were acquitted off their charges leaving behind former CS Hassan Wario and his counterpart Stephen Soi.
