Properties worth millions were on Wednesday destroyed following a fire incident at Gikomba market with the cause remaining unknown.
“Property worth millions of shillings has been destroyed after a mysterious razed down a section of Gikomba market at night. The fire started at the southern part of market opposite Jua Kali section adjacent to Muthurwa Primary School, Pumwani. Fire fighters contained the fire.” Said the Kamukunji Voice
According to Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan the inferno began from the southern part of the market opposite jua kali and next to Muthurwa Primary School. He continued by confirming that various government units were on site including KDF officers.

“A fierce fire is raging in the southern part of the Gikomba Market opposite Jua Kali and adjacent to Muthurwa Primary School in Pumwani. Fire fighters from various government units including the KDF are on the ground battling to bring the blaze under control.” Said MP Yusuf.
Cases of fire at the market seem to be far from over despite efforts from the government to combat the situations on time. Government officials have also visited the market promising to solve the issue one and for all.
In August a similar incident happened at the market destroying goods worth millions with traders left with nothing to salvage.
