Gor Mahia suspended for two years by Cecafa

Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) has suspended Kenyan champions Gor Mahia for two years following misconduct by the Kenyan club in the just concluded Kagame Cup.

Gor Mahia troubles began during their medal presentation where they refused to pick up their bronze medals.The presentation ceremony was being led by anzania’s sports minister Charles Mwakyembe and speaker of the national assembly.

Speaking during conference today,Cecafa Secretary General Nicholas Musonye said” “We lined up according to our customs as Cecafa for medal presentations and we had our guests but Gor Mahia failed to come to the podium. That aside, they came here and declined the hotel, refused to use the dressing room and yesterday failed to adhere to our customs,”

Gor Mahia have however been allowed to appeal the ruling with Mr. Musonye adding that Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has also been warned for his offensive language toward the match officials.

“Cecafa executive committee has warned Gor Mahia coach (Dylan Kerr) for his offensive language towards match officials. We’ve informed FKF (Football Kenya Federation) to take action against the coach but for us, he will not misbehave in our tournaments for the next two years.”Musonye said during the press briefing.
