Governor Ali Korane to spend the night at EACC cells

Garissa Governor Ali Korane will spend the night at EACC custody after his graft case was pushed from Monday to Tuesday.

The case which was set for Monday saw the EACC detectives arraign the Governor let at the court before it was postponed to tomorrow.

Governor Ali Korane was questioned for more than 5-hours together with four others who were implicated in the 233 million graft scandal.

Chaos erupted outside the court when hundreds of the Governors supporters turned up to demonstrate forcing detectives to detain him inside a vehicle.

On 10th September, DPP Noordin Haji approved the arrest and prosecution of the Governor following investigation of the alleged corruption.

The money in question is said to have issued by World Bank to the county through the Ministry of Transport as grants to counties.

It was however diverted to personal accounts through the suspects mentioned in the case and arrested alongside the county boss.

As a Governor, the DPP confirmed he had the duty of care to ensure it was well spent as intended for its rightful use.
