Newly elected Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza had denied allegations that her husband was paid Ksh 1.2 million to perform during her inauguration.
This follows allegations that her husband and musician Murega Baichu was paid Ksh 1.2 million to entertain guest after the inauguration ceremony at Kinoru stadium.
Responding to the claims, Hon. Kawira Mwangaza noted that her husband was not paid even a shilling to perform at the event as she promised to gift him something special when she receives her first salary.

“Clarification on lies being peddled by our political enemies. My husband Murega Baichu was not contracted for performance nor was he paid even a single shilling during my swearing-in Ceremony. But when I receive my first month salary nitamnunulia zawadi.” Said Mwangaza.
Guest at the swearing-in ceremony were moved by the music of Baichu who praised his wife saying that the people of Meru elected her because they know their problems will be solved be his wife.
“The people of Meru know that she will deliver and that is why they voted her in against two strong waves…they have so much confidence in mama and she loves them because she knows what their problems are,” said Baichu
