The Kenya Scout Council and National Scout Board have termed the current installation of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko as Patron as illegal.
Sonko was named Patron of the Kenya Scouts Association of Nairobi on September 11th during an event that was held at the Nairobi Railways.
“Earlier today, I was invested as the Patron of the Kenya Scouts Association in Nairobi County, and the representative of the World Scouts Parliamentary Union at the Council of Governors.” Said Governor Mike Sonko.

On Wednesday a statement was issued by the chairman of the Kenya Scouts Council Jacob Kaimenyi and National Scouts Board Chairman Victor Radido confirming that the title can only be issued by the National Scouts Board.
The statement reads in part that the ceremony was not conducted accordingly as it should be supervised by the Chairman of the National Scouts Council.
The Council confirmed to have also communicated to the Governor via a letter informing him that he should not proceed with the event.
Sonko however proceeded to the grounds and accepted the title promising to focus on the association including funding them.
