Governor Muthomi Njuki of Tharaka Nithi surrenders to EACC

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki has on Monday surrendered himself to EACC officers following order of his arrest by DPP Noordin Haji.

According to the order, the DPP revealed allegation of corruption and disregard of procurement law leading to the misappropriation of Ksh 34 million.

Governor Muthomi Njuki is alleged to have benefited through his proxies one being Westomaxx Investment Limited tasked with the supply and installation of solid waste machine totaling to Ksh 34 million.

EACC detectives conducted the investigation and found the county finance department liable for the release of the said funds.

Further investigations revealed the companies and people who profited from the fraudulent tender and they include;

  • Boiler Techniques Engineering Ltd
  • Plenser Ltd

  • Kenneth Mucuiya Ngai
  • Kenstar Electrical and Hardware Limited
  • Caroline Sheila Wambui

Satisfied with the evidence before him, DPP Noordin Haji approved the arrest of the Governor alongside 16 others who include;

  • Floridah Kiende Nywigah
  • Highton Muriithi Njue
  • Teresia Kagoji Mburia
  • Arch. Lee Mwenda Munene
  • Japhet Mutugi Nkonge
  • Emily Nkatha Micheni
  • Mike Mwiandi Muriithi 
  • Elosy Kariithi Matti
  • Kenneth Muguiya Ngai
  • Caroline Sheila Wambui
  • Allan Muriithi Gitonga
  • George Miano
