Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu has moved to court to challenge the county Speaker’s decision blocking her from accessing funds.
Governor Ngilu’s decision follows a letter from the Office of the Controller of Budget (OCOB) to the County Executive Committee of Finance saying that the funds will only be released once a letter from the County Speaker is served to them.
Kitui County budget was approved by the County Assembly on June 28th but the Speaker has not yet communicated in writing the approval in the stipulated time.
