Migori Govenor Obado has on Monday denied murder charges leveled against him as he appeared before Judge Lessit.
The prosecution team had amended the charge sheet and included the infant of slain Rongo university student Sharon Otieno.
Appearing before the court was governor Obado’s PA Michael Oyamo and Capal obiero and the two also denied the murder of Sharon Otieno and her infant who died following the gruesome murder.
Their case will again be heard on October 12th when their bail application will be heard. In the meantime the three will remain detained at the Industrial Area Remand prison. Judge Lessit allowed the three cases to be consolidated into one following the prosecution request.
Initially Mr. Obado has been charged with the murder of Sharon Otieno but after a DNA test was conducted confirming to be the father of the infant, charges of murder of the infant were added into his charge sheet.
Government pathologist Johansen Oduor confirmed that Sharon was stubbed eight times and died from excessive bleeding.
Deep stab wounds from Sharon’s back are also believed to have passed through to the infant who also died.
The family of the deceased initially refused to bury their daughter until justice prevails.
They have so far buried the infant and plans are underway to bury Sharon next to the grave of her infant.
Sharon’s mother accused the Governor for lying to her daughter as the two were said to be in a relationship with Mr. Obado promising the deceased government tenders.
