Sonko secures release of baby held over Ksh 56k bill

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has on Monday come to the rescue of a baby held over an outstanding bill of Ksh 56k.

Governor Mike Sonko through his team secured the release of a mother and her baby held at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The woman and the baby were held over an outstanding bill of Ksh 56k that prompted the father to sneak the baby out of the hospital.

Unfortunately Boniface Murage was caught by the guards in charge leading to his arrest.

Appearing at Milimani Law Courts, Mr. Boniface pleaded guilty of his crime admitting that he had no money to settle the bill.

The story that went viral on Monday caught the attention of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who sent his team to the hospital.

They managed to settle the bill and did some shopping for both the mother and the baby.

Speaking after the release Mike Sonko said “After visiting Kenyatta National Hospital for the release of Agnes we are now doing the Shopping for the mother and her innocent child.

We are also following up with Boniface Murage Wangeci who was arrested and presented before milimani law courts for trying to smuggle his daughter out of Kenyatta National Hospital as he couldn’t raise ksh 56,000 bill.

He is only 22yrs and jobless but the love for his daughter forced him to mess the law just like any father.He pleaded guilty and the court is set to sentence him tomorrow.The man never involved himself in crime or unlawful deals.” Said Governor Sonko
