Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru has shared the current status of Kerugoya County Referral Hospital following hygiene concern of the hospital.
From the photos shared, Kerugoya hospital could be seen clean with the Governor admitting that the hospital is overstuffed.
“This is the current status of Kerugoya hospital as at 12 pm today. However, you will agree with me that 346 casuals in addition to 300 medical staff, 50 data entry staff and other support staff is over staffing for a 200-bed capacity hospital.”
The statement follows a special task force that was formed to oversee the immediate cleanup of Kerugoya County Referral Hospital.
The task force was mandated to carry our re-deployment of manpower to clean up and maintain standards in hygiene, public health and safety at the hospital within the next 72 hours.
Waiguru further directed the Chief Officer of Transport and Public Works to immediately restore laundry services at the hospital.
