Gov’t clears Dr. Stephen Mogusu’s Ksh 204K hospital bill

The government has cleared the late Dr. Stephen Mogusu’s hospital bill of Ksh 204,618 to pave way for a decent burial.

Citizen TV revealed the news saying the family of the late 28-year-old doctor has been granted the right to collect the body.

In a letter seen by the media company, the hospital confirms that a clearance letter has been issued to Stephen’s wife to proceed with the burial. The family is also expected to collect the body at the same time.

Dr. Stephen Mogusu worked at Machakos County Isolation centre and was taken to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital’s ICU where he battled COVID-1- before meeting his death.

His death has seen the government being reminded on the need to protect front line health workers against the disease.

“Devastating to announce the demise of 28 yr old Dr. Stephen Mogusu who has succumbed to COVID-19 complications At the time of his death he had not received his salary for 5 months,had no insurance & his young family left with no compensation. Too steep a price for Patriotism.” Said KMPDU

“We are saddened by the loss of Dr Stephen Mogusu, a brilliant and selfless medic who was dedicated to deliver critical care and support to our country during this COVID-19 crisis.

His death, and that of other healthcare workers, is a demonstration that we must deploy all our energies and resources to protect and save our heroes at the frontline from this pandemic at this particular time. Kenyans too must be protected from this ravage.” Said DP Ruto.
