The news comes at a time when scrap metal traders demonstrated and headed to the CS’s office requesting audience citing tough economic times thus requesting to have the ban lifted.

They were however not allowed inside with the trade bosses allowed to have a discussion that called for all traders to register before they are allowed back to business.

President Uhuru Kenyatta banned the trade following huge losses of public resources including the standard gauge rails and electricity equipment across the country.

Several suspects have been arrested following uproar from citizens who were tired of frequent power outages that sometimes affected the main grid supplying the whole country.

Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i called for investigation of top KPLC bosses who are believed to have been colluding with the thieves or causing intentional outages following government intervention into such incidents.
