Deputy Public Prosecutor Noordin Hajji has confirmed lawyer Philip Murgor is no longer a public prosecutor.
Through a gazette notice dated Friday 15th November 2019, Hajji struck out the name of the lawyer in the list of prosecutors in his office.
The clarification will put to rest the representation of the lawyer in cases such as that of Sarah Cohen, the prime suspect in the murder of husband Tob Cohen.
Lawyer Cliff Ombeta challenged the representation of Murgor saying his relation to the DPP’s office was questionable.
In his defense, Murgor said that he had tendered his resignation in March following his appointment in January 2019.
He further accused Ombeta of causing unnecessary delays when he could have addressed the issue differently through an application.
The clarification caused a two-day delay in the trial of Sarah Cohen until when Justice Stella Mutuku confirmed he was no longer a public prosecutor.
