Hilton Hotel has confirmed its exit from the Kenyan market ending its 53 years of operation come 31st December 2022.
The hotel will also lay off a number of employees before they finally close its doors in December at a time when they were recovering from the impact of COVID-19.
Hilton Hotel which is 40.57 owned by the government cited other factors other than COVID-19 as the reason why they are ending the 53 years stay at the heart of Nairobi CBD.
“Covid-19 created unprecedented challenges for our industry. However, the decision to cease operations is not directly connected to the pandemic.
“Unfortunately, the closure of the hotel will result in a retrenchment process. However, we will work with those impacted to help them find alternative employment,” Said Hilton in a statement.
The hotel also noted that some of their staffs will be assigned to their other hotels under their portfolio. The news comes a day after they confirmed that their other brands will continue with their operations.
