Homabay Governor Cyprian Awiti loses seat

Governor Cyprian Awiti has today lost his seat following a Court of Appeal verdict passed today in Kisumu County.

Governor Cyprian has lost his seat twice now following the High Court verdict that confirmed the Independent and Boundary Commission conducted Homabay gubernatorial election not in a free and fair way.

Challenging Mr. Awiti was Homabay candidate in the August election Oyugi Magwanga.

Passing the decision today, Judge Fatuma Sichale read the ruling against Mr. Awiti and ordering him to pay Ksh 4 million and IEBC to pay Ksh 2 million to Mr.Magwanga to carter the court case.
