Opposition leader Raila Odinga has on Tuesday left the country for Tanzania to attend the burial of President Magufuli’s sister.
On Monday the ODM leader mourned with the family of President Magufuli saying “I have learnt with sorrow of the passing of Ms. Monica Joseph Magufuli, sister to H.E President John Magufuli. My sincere condolences to the family and the people of Tanzania at this time of mourning. We are together in sorrow.”
President Magufuli and Odinga’s family have been long time friends since 2007 when President Magufuli was the Minister of Public Works.
In 2015, President Magufuli attended the burial of Mr. Raila Odinga’s first born, Fidel Odinga in what has been a good relationship between the two leaders.
In his trip to Tanzania, Mr. Raila Odinga was accompanied by National Assembly minority leader Junet Muhammed and the two leaders will be back on Wednesday according to a statement from the former’s Prime Minister’s office.
