The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has on Sunday disqualified Safina Party Presidential aspirant Jimi Wanjigi.
This is after the commission failed to get valid degree certificates from the businessman turned politician, a requirement highly considered for qualification purposes.
Speaking from the Bomas of Kenya IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati noted that Jimi Wanjigi had presented academic transcripts and not a degree certificate that indicated he was set to graduate in December 2022.

Chebukati continued by confirming that the Safina presidential aspirant failed to meet the 48,000 signature requirement from at least two counties during his date with the commission on Monday.
Wanjigi now follows the likes of Mwangi wa Iria who was disqualified following graft allegations against him that are before the court.
On Sunday, Azimio Presidential hopeful Hon. Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua were cleared by the commission and handed a clearance certificate becoming the fifth candidate to sail through.
