The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has fired four officials arrested over the weekend while holding a meeting with an aspirant in Homa Bay county.
The four who included the presiding officer, two deputy presiding officers, and a clerk committed an offense and it was wrong of them to attend the meeting in the first place.
Even though the agenda of the meeting remains unknown, the four were apprehended by locals who took them to the nearest police stations. The police officer handed the four to IEBC for the appropriate course of action.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the extent of their violation and whether they should be arrested or not. Those expected to record statements include the residents who disrupted the meeting.
Other officials from the Commission are reported to have escaped the scene with the Commission promising an effective way of replacing those arrested.
The news comes at a time when Kenyans have questioned the transparency of the Commissions ahead of the elections. This is after presidential candidates brought up crucial points in the discussion including the use of the manual register.
