IGAD suspends membership of South Sudan

Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has suspended the membership of South Sudan after the government failed to pay its annual contribution fee.

The oil rich country joined the organization in 2011 and joined fellow countries including Kenya, Uganda and Djibouti.

“Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (Igad) has suspended the membership of South Sudan after the country failed to pay its annual contributions fee. South Sudan joined IGAD in 2011. Other member states include Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Somalia & Uganda.” Said Tanzania Updates
