Immigration Kenya denies suspending passport services

The department of Immigration has come out strongly to deny allegations of suspending passport services as published by Citizen TV.

According to the publication, the service has been canceled with those with previous appointments required to book new appointments.

in a statement issued by Immigration Kenya, the correct stand is they have just scaled down operations due to the pandemic but those with previous bookings expected to make appointments from November 9th.

“Clarification: Immigration Dept has not suspended passport Services. The correct position is that we have downscaled our operations. All passport applicants are required to book new dates for submission. This is effective Monday, November 9th, 2020.” said immigration Kenya

The announcement follows a statement by President Uhuru Kenyatta calling on political leaders to scale down their activities to curb the spread of the virus.

This follows a surge in the number of cases in the country and an increased number of daily deaths which now stand at 1,093.

Public servants above the age of 58-years and those with underlying health problems will be required to work as directed by the Head of State.
