India has reported a record high of its daily coronavirus cases by 55,078 rising the total confirmed cases as at Friday to 1.64 million.
At the same time the new number of deaths was 779 bringing to 35,747 the accumulative number of fatalities in the country.

The new figures come at a time when India is easing some of its restrictions in a bid to revive the economy greatly affected by the pandemic.
In a bid to test many more more people, the Ministry of Health has rolled out a plan to test 1 million people in a day from the initial 600,000 target.
Businesses such as gyms and Yoga centres have already been allowed to reopen with the same orders paving way for movement of goods and people.
Historic places that attract tourists have already been reopened with strict guidelines implemented to cut the spread of the virus.
The number of visitors have been limited at a time with those stepping in ordered to have their masks on in addition to sanitizing their hands.Their body temperatures will also be checked by officials on site.
