India’s former President Pranab Mukherjee has tested positive for COVID-19 as confirmed by the former official himself.
In a message on his official handle, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee confirmed that he knew he had the virus during a visit to the hospital.

He continues by calling on his contacts to self isolate and even get tested to know their health.
“On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19.” Said the Former President.
The former President is among two other prominent people in India who have contracted the cirus.
India’s Home Minister Amit Shah was the first on the list and is currently receiving treatment in the country’s capital Delhi.
Second is Bollyhood actor Amitabh Bachchan who confirmed to have tested positive and has since recovered.
India as a country has so far confirmed 2.2 million cases of the virus with a new daily high of 63,000 cases confirmed by the Ministry of Health.
