Jackline Chepkoech has bagged Kenya the second gold at the Commonwealth Games after finishing first at the Alexander Stadium on Friday.
The 2021 World Under-20 3,000m champion overcame stiff competition from Uganda’s Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai to beat her after finishing the race at 9:15:68 seconds.
Peruth Chemutai bagged the bronze medal as Elizabeth Bird of great Britain finished second at a time of 9:23.24 and 9:17.79 seconds respectively.
Congratulating Chepkoech was Deputy President William Ruto who termed her a true champion and wonderful ambassador of the country.
