Jackline Chepkoech bags gold at the Commonwealth Games

Jackline Chepkoech has bagged Kenya the second gold at the Commonwealth Games after finishing first at the Alexander Stadium on Friday.

The 2021 World Under-20 3,000m champion overcame stiff competition from Uganda’s Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai to beat her after finishing the race at 9:15:68 seconds.

Peruth Chemutai bagged the bronze medal as Elizabeth Bird of great Britain finished second at a time of 9:23.24 and 9:17.79 seconds respectively.

Congratulating Chepkoech was Deputy President William Ruto who termed her a true champion and wonderful ambassador of the country.

“Congratulations Jackline Chepkoech for clinching Kenya’s second in the Women’s Steeplechase at the Commonwealth games. You are a true champion and wonderful ambassador of our nation.” Said DP Ruto
