Citizen TV presenter Jacque Maribe’s father has for the first time talked about the ongoing investigation linking her daughter to the death of Monica Kimani.
Maribe was arrested alongside her lover Joseph Irungu who is accused of committing the crime. Monica’s body was found lifeless with her throat slit on September 20th in her Kilimani’s house.
Maribe’s dad argument
Mr Mwangi Maribe argued how her daughter could have commited the crime and announce the same news the following day.
He continues to say that it would be impossible to do so as she has been brought up well. He however accused the police of using her daughter’s fame to charge her for the murder.
Initially when Maribe was called for interrogation, she said that her lover Joseph Irungu shot himself after she tried to break things between the two of them.
She later changed her statement saying that Jowi was shot by robbers who were following him on the day.
The two are said to have been arguing of late as reported by one person who revealed that they were once spotted in a joint with Maribe demanding her ATM and car keys back from Jowi.
Directorate of Criminal investigation boss George Kinoti issued a statement last week saying that the TV presenter will be charged for accessory to murder.
The accusation came about after Maribe gave contradicting information to the police and in addition to that evidence pointed out that the clothes worn by the suspect were burnt near her house. Her kitchen knife has so far been taken for analysis to determine if it was the one use during the murder.
According to the DCI boss, she is believed to have known about the murder but did not report it to the police.
Jacque Maribe’s dad who has been a parliamentary aspirant for Kiharu constituency said that he has met Joseph Irungu about two or three times and he never asked where he worked.
He also admitted to have heard of her daughter’s engagement through the media.
