Japan shocked many on Thursday night beating Spain 2-1, a result that knocked Germany out of the Qatar World Cup 2022.
The final results meant Germany were out of the tournament in group stages for the second time in a row despite beating Costa Rica 4-2. The results also ensured that Japan were on top of Group E with six points.
Germany could have gone through the group stages if only they could beat Costa Rica with a massive score line to ensure that they beat Spain on goal difference.

Back in 2018, Germany finished last in their group against Sweden, Mexico and South Korea becoming the third defending World Cup champion to leave the competition early. This is after they won the trophy back in 2014.
On Thursday night Spain took the lead through Alvaro Morata in the first half only for Japan to score quick goals in the second half in a span of four minutes.
Ritsu Doan netted the first one for Japan as Ao Tanaka’s second controversial goal sealed Spain’s fate.
