Upon arrival, the fire brigade is said to have rushed to the kitchen to contain the fire from spreading any further due to the presence of explosive equipment such as the gas.
The University vice-chancellor Prof. Victoria Ngumi arrived at the institution at around 7:30 am and addressed the students promising to assist the students in the affected hall to get alternative accommodation.
