Joseph Irungu alias Jowie has now raised torture claims as said by his defense team.
The allegations come at a time when the main suspect in the death of Monica Kimani has been informed of his transfer from Industrial area to Kamiti prison.
In addition to the transfer, Jowie has not yet received proper treatment to his gunshot wound.
The only medications his defense team says he has received are only pain killers.
Speaking before Justice James Wakiaga, his Joseph irungu’s lawyer said that his client has not yet received any proper treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital and he is scheduled for transfer to Kamiti Prison where there are issues raised by his client about torture.
The court was also informed of his family inability to take him to a private hospital even though they raised Ksh 20,000 to have him treated at Kenyatta Hospital before being disallowed.
Justice Wakiaga then ordered Joseph Irungu to receive immediate treatment on Tuesday.
On the other hand Kamiti Prison says that it won’t be possible to have him treated on Tuesday as they have to get a vehicle so the earliest they can get him for treatment is Wednesday.
Prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki however said that her office will look into the allegations of torture and report back to the court.
