Kakamega County is mourning the death of it Chief of Staff Robert Sumbi who succumbed to COVID-19 on Thursday morning.
Sumbi who was initially admitted at the Kakamega County General Hospital was transferred to a hospital in Bungoma where he met his death.
According to the Star, the diseased was transferred to the other hospital after his health deteriorated after his kidney had failed and was in need of an ICU facility at the same time.

“It is with profound shock that I have received the news of the demise of my friend, brother and colleague in public service, the late Robert Sumbi, Chief of Staff, Kakamega County Government. Robert was a selfless hardworking man who committed his efforts to a better Kakamega.” said Senator Malala
His death comes barely a day after Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya shut the County headquarters following an increased number of cases.
At the general hospital, medics are calling in for the government to step to their aid as 15 of their fellow employees were diagnosed with the virus.
