DNA results of the Kakamega twins Sharon and Melon have been released by Lancet Kenya and they reveal they are indeed identical twins.
In addition to Sharon and Melon being identical, the DNA results also showed that Rosemary Onyango is their mother.
Also out were results from Angeline Matias and Mathias Maruti which showed that they had a 99.9% probability of being Melvin Imbanya’s parents.
Lancet Kenya had collected a total of six DNA samples from Sharon Mitekwa, Melon Lutenyo, Melvis Imbaya, Rosemary Onyango, Angeline Amina Matias and Wilson Lutah Maruti.
The Kakamega twins were both born in a hospital in Kakamega County in 1995 where they are believed to have been switched at birth.
Rosemary Onyango expected to have triplets by on delivery she was handed two babies, Melon and Melvin who she brought up as twins. Sharon was raised by Angeline Amina in Kangemi.

Both families made it clear that the results will not tear their family apart. The twins are both form four candidates in Kakamega County.
