Kamworor and Jepkosgei win New York marathon

Geoffrey Kamworor, Kenya’s half marathoner won this years New York edition at a time of 2:08:13 ahead of fellow compatriot Albert Koriri.

It was the second win for Kamworor in three years and one of his best racing performances in the half marathon.

The champion broke a four men group including Ethiopian marathoner Bekele who finished third, behind Korir.

Training with world marathon holder Eliud Kipchoge, Geoffrey was the favorite to clinch the win which was celebrated by the INEOS challenger.

In the women race Joyciline Jepkosgei outshined five time New York champion Mary Keitany to bag the gold at 2:22:38.

Mary Keitany did everything okay but when Jepkosgei increased her momentum, it was impossible for Keitany to close in.

Ruti Aga of Ethiopia came third behind Mary Keitany and two minutes late.
