Kasarani Stadium is set to be closed down as workers begin renovation processes ahead of two major international events.

The cost of renovations is said to be in the range of Ksh 300M as Sports Kenya said that the training fields will also be affected.

In the meantime, the government has approved a budget of Ksh 300M to ensure that the World Continental Tour and World Under-20 junior championships are at the desired standards.

The events are set to take place in May and June 2020 respectively.

As the innovations are set to begin, the process has been viewed as a marketing tool for the country.

This is because Kenya has made it clear their plans to host World Athletics Championship come 2022.
