The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Kenya have gone up 27,425 after 497 new cases were confirmed.
A sample size of 4,171 was tested in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of samples to 362,501.
“Today, 497 people have tested positive from 4,171 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings to 27,425 the number of positive cases pushing our cumulative tests to 362,501.” Said Ministry of Health.

Out of the new positive cases, 467 are Kenyans and 30 are foreigners with the number of males being 312 and that of women being 185.
“From the cases 467 are Kenyans while 30 are foreigners. 312 are males and 185 females. The youngest case is a six month-old infant while the oldest is 80.” Said Dr. Mercy Mwangangi.
In the same 24 hours, 372 recoveries were recorded out of of which 315 were from home-based care and 57 from discharged from various hospitals.The number of recoveries now stand at 13,867.
“On a more positive note, 372 patients have recovered from the Virus. From this number, 315 are from Home based Care program,& 57 have been discharged from various hospitals, total number of recoveries is 13,867.”Said Dr. Mercy Mwangangi.
Unfortunately 15 patients died from the virus bringing to 438 the number of fatalities in the country.11 of the victims had underlying conditions.
“Unfortunately, we have lost 15 patients from the disease, bringing our fatality to 438; Out of the 15 who have passed on, 11 had underlying conditions with the youngest being 31 years and oldest 77. Condolences to the families & Friends of the bereaved.”
