Kenya coronavirus cases rise by 178 to 5,384

Kenya ha confirmed 178 new cases of coronavirus raising the confirmed number of cases in the country to 5,384.

The new cases were confirmed by CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi who said they were identified from a a sample size of 3,918 bringing the total of samples tested so fat to 155,314.

“Today, we have tested 3,918 samples and, 178 people have tested positive for the virus. This brings to 5,384 the number of positive cases in the country so far. The total number of tests carried out now stands at 155,314.”

176 of the new cases are Kenyans while three are foreigners who are between the age of 1-year and 76-years.

“All the positive cases except three are foreigners, with 123 males and 55 females. The youngest is a one year old while the oldest is 76.”

In terms of distribution, Nairobi has 100, Kajiado 21, Migori 17, Kiambu 16, Busia 8, Mombasa 7, Machakos 4, Uasin Gishu 1, Kericho 1 and Taita Taveta 1.

CAS Mwangangi confirmed 34 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,857.

On a sad note, two patients passed away from the raising the number of fatalities in the country to 132.
