Kenya has on Friday confirmed five additional coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours raising the national tally to 137.
At the same time, the country confirmed 149 new cases of the virus from a sample size of 3,090.
The cases rise the total number of cases in the country to 5,533 with the accumulative samples standing at 158,404.

“Today we have 149 positive cases of Covid-19 from a sample of 3,090 tested in the last 24 hours.”
Out of the new cases 148 of them are Kenyans while one was a foreigner with the patients comprising of 94 males and 55 females aged between 1-year and 76-years.
“We now have a total of 5,533 confirmed cases in the country, out of 158,404 cumulative tests. From today’s cases, 148 are Kenyans and one is a foreigner, while 94 are males and 55 females. The youngest is a one year old infant, while the oldest is 76.”
In terms of distribution Nairobi is leading with 73 cases, Mombasa 20, Kajiado 15, Siaya 13, Busia 9, Kiambu 8, Taita Taveta 3 as Kilifi, Nakuru, Nandi and Bungoma recording a single case each.
A total of 48 patients have been discharged bring the number of those discharged in the country to 1,905.
“Today we have discharged 48 patients from various hospitals, bringing to 1,905 the total number of those who have so far recovered from the disease. We also lost another five (5) patients to the disease bringing our fatality cases to 137.”
