Operations of the famous commuter train have resumed as confirmed by Kenya Railways following the government directive flexing curfew hours in the country.
In their announcement, they said the trains will operate between the morning hours of 6 am and 7 am and in the evening between 5:30 pm and 7 pm.
“Kenya Railways wishes to inform our customers that effective Monday 15th June 2020, all commuter trains will revert to the normal schedule ; following the revision of the daily national curfew hours from 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.”

The schedules are met to enable Nairobi dwellers meet the curfew hours and enable them travel to and from their destinations with ease.
At the station, sanitizing booths will be installed and water points strategically placed to allow commuters to maintain the required level of hygiene as proposed by the Ministry of Health.
Kenya Railways David Mainga said that the famous Madaraka express between Nairobi and Mombasa will resume operations once the cessation of movement imposed in the two counties is lifted.
At the same time, the MD confirmed that the Nairobi-Nanyuki line has been rehabilitated and will soon be commissioned.
