Kenya records 1,006 COVID-19 cases from 5,584 samples

The Ministry of Health in Kenya has on Wednesday confirmed 1,006 new COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 5,584 tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases which represent a positivity rate of 18% represent 966 Kenyans and 40 foreigners. The cumulative number of cases and samples now stands at 199,941 and 2,109,581 respectively.

“1,006 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 5,584 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 18.0%. Total confirmed positive cases are now 199,941 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,109,581.” Said Ministry of Health.

In the same 24 hours, 261 patients have recovered from the disease 228 of them coming from various health facilities across the country and 33 from home-based care programs. The cumulative number of recoveries stands at 187,824.

Unfortunately, 13 people have succumbed to the virus with all deaths being late reports after conducting a facility audit in the month of July 2021. Cumulative deaths now stand at 3,895.
