Kenya records 18 COVID-19 deaths and 395 recoveries

The Ministry of health has on Tuesday recorded 433 new COVID-19 cases from 4,479 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The new cases and samples now push the cumulative number of cases and samples so far tested to 173,072 and 1,840,889 respectively.

“Today 433 people have tested positive for the disease, from a sample size of 4,479 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 9.7%. Total confirmed positive cases are now 173,072 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,840,889.” Said Ministry of Health.

In terms of distribution, Kisumu leads with 129 new cases, Nairobi 84, Siaya 24, Mombasa 24, Trans Nzoia 23, Kericho 21, Uasin Gishu 16, Nakuru 14, Makueni 11, Kiambu 11, Kisii 9, Homa Bay 8, Nyamira 8, Kajiado 7, Bomet 6, Bungoma 5, Baringo 4, Busia 3, Garissa 3, Kakamega 3, Kilifi 3, Kwale 2, Machakos 2, Marsabit 2, Meru 2, Narok 2, Nyeri 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 1, Embu 1, Kirinyaga 1, Laikipia 1 and Murang’a 1.

Sadly, 18 people succumbed to the disease, with all deaths being late audit reports from various hospitals across the country between April and May 2021. Cumulative number of fatalities now stands at 3,326.

In the same 24 hours, 395 patients recovered from the virus, 262 of whom are from home-based care and 133 from various health facilities across the country. Cumulative number of recoveries now stand at 118,621.
